RFBerlin-CEPR Annual Symposium in Labour Economics 2025

The 2025 RFBerlin-CEPR Annual Symposium in Labour Economics, will take place on 12-13 June 2025, organized in collaboration with Centre for Economic Policy Research (CEPR). The symposium will feature papers on all topics in labour economics.

Keynotes

The keynote speakers are John Friedman (Brown University & Opportunity Insights) and Heather Sarsons (Vancouver School of Economics & CEPR).

John N. Friedman is the Briger Family Distinguished Professor of Economics and International and Public Affairs at Watson Institute for International and Public Affairs, a professor of economics at Brown University and a founding co-director of Opportunity Insights. His research focuses on public economics and political economy, addressing inequality, poverty, and intergenerational mobility. His work has appeared in leading journals, received media coverage, and was cited by President Obama in the 2012 State of the Union Address.

Heather Sarson is an Associate Professor at the Vancouver School of Economics at the University of British Columbia. Her research spans labour, behavioural, and social economics, with a particular focus on gender inequality and discrimination. Her work has been featured in publications, including The New York Times, The Economist, and The Washington Post. Dr. Sarsons is also a Faculty Research Fellow at the National Bureau of Economic Research and a Research Affiliate at the Centre for Economic Policy Research (CEPR).

Schedule

The programme will begin on Thursday morning (12th of June) and conclude on Friday afternoon (13th of June). To foster the desired interaction, we ask that participants stay for the entire duration of the conference.


Funding

For presenting authors, accommodations in Berlin (up to three nights) and travel expenses will be covered according to the CEPR Travel guidelines. Meals during the conference will be provided for all participants.
