RFBerlin Workshop on the Economics of Aging

Challenges for the Labor Market and Long-Term Care

Time: 10:00 Thursday 5 Jun 2025 – 19:00 Friday 6 Jun 2025

Location: Berlin

The global population is aging, with those over 65 expected to make up 11.7% of the population by 2030 and 15.8% by 2050, resulting in challenges for the labor market and long-term care. Older workers may struggle with adapting to new skills, while rising care needs and fewer caregivers add pressure on families. The RFBerlin Workshop on the Economics of Aging will address these and other issues, showcasing recent research and fostering collaboration among junior and senior scientists.

We welcome submissions of innovative papers from scholars with an interest in the economic implications of population aging. Topics may include the effects of population aging on labor supply, productivity, retirement patterns, pension systems, long-term care needs, and demographic trends shaping economic changes and inequality.
