The ROCKWOOL Foundation Berlin – Institute for the Economy and the Future of Work (RFBerlin), a research institute focused on data-driven research, is seeking a research assistant for tasks related to Guido Friebels public policy research agenda, including a project about infrastructure in Germany and extremist voting behaviour.

As a student assistant, you will be responsible for data collection and preparation tasks. This position offers a unique chance to gain hands-on experience in data-driven research and develop your coding skills in a dynamic and supportive environment. This is a 20 hours per week position that offers flexible hours, allowing you to balance work and your studies. We are excited to welcome a new team member to our office in Berlin and would like to offer an immediate start for the position, based on individual agreement.

Job Responsibilities

  • Assist in collecting data on a number of topics in Germany, among others on co-determination in firms and the quality of infrastructure in particular in rural Germany such as the train networks, the healthcare industry, and broadband internet.
  • Prepare, and analyze data using R, Python, or Stata.
  • Assist with project management, including scheduling meetings, tracking deadlines, and communicating with team members.
  • Attend team meetings and document the data collection process to allow replicability of the research.

Qualifications

  • Currently enrolled in a bachelor’s or master’s program in statistics, economics, informatics, or a related discipline.
  • Good coding skills in R, Python, or Stata.
  • Interest in research and data analysis.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English (German optional).
  • Ability to work independently and prioritize tasks effectively.
